Flu Prevention Awareness

Promotional products to help prevent the spread of influenza

Schools, businesses, and organizations are all affected by the flu every year with lost hours from students and workers. Although we cannot prevent the flu from occurring, we can take steps to limit the impact of the flu as much as possible. Promotional products can help prevent the spread of influenza. Building awareness on how to prevent the flu is a great way to limit lost hours and productivity. Promotional products provide great reminders for flu prevention. Here are some ideas other institutions have used:

A state agency used wristlets imprinted with "wash your hands" to raise awareness with students and employees.
A hospital provided each nurse with a portable hand sanitizer.
A university provided all incoming students with an imprinted antibacterial hand sanitizer.
A state agency provided each of their employees with a soap leaf dispenser, so they could wash their hands anywhere.

Here is a checklist of items suggested by the CDC on how to prevent the flu (*):

• Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.
• Wash your hands with soap and water. Hand sanitizers are a great substitute when soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Avoid contact with others who may be sick.
• If you are sick, limit contact with others to prevent spreading the flu.
• Visit your doctor for any additional questions or medical advice.

Here is a checklist of things you can do as an organization to help prevent the flu:

• Post a list of flu prevention techniques in high traffic areas.
• Periodically email employees to keep them informed of flu prevention techniques.
• Provide custom hand sanitizer giveaways in common areas for student/employee usage.
• Use promotional items such as customized awareness wristlets with an imprinted message to "wash your hands" to serve as a reminder to students/employees.
